Martin 00-17 1953 | $3950 | (v2338) The 17-series Martins were a no-frills offering to guitar buyers on a budget, but still wanted the C.F. Martin quality and sound. The model proved to be quite successful for the company, especially during the nascent folk scene of the 1950s. This particular example is in excellent + condition, with its original case.
The body is constructed from mahogany. The only adornment is a thin ring of b/w/b purfling around the sound hole and the Martin decal on the headstock. The neck is mahogany and carved in a comfortable 'C'-shape. The fingerboard and bridge are Brazilian rosewood, and the headstock features a Brazilian overlay. The nut is ebony. The top is X-braced.
The body measures 14 3/8" across at the lower bout. Scale length is 25". The neck measures 1 11/16" across at the nut, and string spacing at the saddle is 2 3/16".
The guitar is 100% original including tuners, nut, saddle and case. There are no cracks or any evidence of prior repairs. We recently reset the neck and dressed and leveled the frets.
The guitar plays very well and produces a suprisingly strong bass .. great fingerpicking or recording guitar.
Comes with its original soft case.
