Gibson LG0 1964 | SOLD | (v1738) The Gibson LG0 was Gibson's entry level flat top. Instead of a spruce top, the LG0 featured a solid mahogany top, but like the LG1, was ladder-braced and made from the same quality materials and workmanship as the more expensive Gibson guitars.
Top, back and sides are solid mahogany. The top is bound in faux celluloid, with a black ring around the sound hole. The pick guard is attached with screws from the factory. The head stock is painted black and features the the gold Gibson decal. The neck is mahogony and features a Brazilian rosewood fingerboard and adjustable truss rod. The original end pin is held in with a screw (factory). The tuners are enclosed Kluson DeLuxe.
The lower bout measures 14 1/8" across. Scale length is 24 3/4". The neck measures 1 5/8" across at the nut, and string spacing is 2" across at the saddle. Action is set at 6/64".
The guitar is in very good condition. We recently attached the replacement bridge, glued a few brace tips, and leveled and dressed the frets. Previous repairs include three back cracks glued. The bridge and bridge pins are replacements. The tuners show some oxidation. There are various nicks and dings from use, and a 'footprint' from a bridge mis-alignment.
The guitar plays smoothly and produces a warm, woody sound with clean notes and good depth and sustain. A nice folky, finger-picking guitar, and great value for the money.
Comes with a soft case.
