Goodman Grand Concert 12-String New  |  $3800  |  (cv2405)  We're very pleased to offer this custom-crafted 12-string acoustic guitar made by luthier Brad Goodman.  Brad has been building high quality guitars for almost fifty years, and seeks the finest materials that will ensure his instrument is a worthy representative of the many fine American-made instruments of the past one hundred years that have inspired his work.  This particular guitar echos grand concert-size guitars built by Regal in Chicago in the first quarter of the twentiety century.

The back and sides are a fine grade of white oak, a traditional tone wood used by many early builders, and one that we find provides stellar tonal qualities.  The top is Adirondack red spruce and is bound in b/w/b purfling and white binding, which is repeated around the sound hole.  The top features traditional ladder bracing.  The bridge is Gaboon ebony carved in the 'pyramid' style.  The stud tailpiece is actually old stock from before WWII.  The neck is mahogany with an ebony fingerboard and joins the body at the 12th fret.  The neck features an adjustable titanium truss rod to help keep weight down which gives the 'feel' of a pre-war guitar, and ensures spot-on neck relief.  The head stock sports a Gaboon ebony overlay with 'Goodman' inlaid in pearl.  The tuners are Golden Age Restoration tuners that provide smooth and effortless tuning.  There is a Goodman label inside the sound hole that lists a serial number, the vintage inspiration for the build and Brad's signature.

The body measures 14 11/16" across at the lower bout.  Scale length is 25 1/4".  The neck measures 1 3/4" across at the nut, with string spacing set at 2 7/16" at the saddle.  The neck is carved in a very modern-feeling 'C' shape that fits the hand comfortably .. it feels like a 50s Martin profile!  Action is set at 4 & 5/64".

With its comfortable neck carve, medium scale length, low action and 10-48 gauge strings, this 12-string is the silkiest playing 12 we've encountered, a dream to play.  Sonically, the notes are clearly defined across the spectrum with sustain that lasts forever, but not jangly like many modern 12s.  It's perfect for the player who shys away from a 12 due to the heft of the neck (because this one plays like a 6!) and with a thicker gauge of strings would be perfect for the player looking to get the pre-war Leadbelly or McTell sound.   Overall, a custom built guitar with attention to detail that recalls the great guitars of the past.

Comes with a hard case.
